Mike McGeary (PRO) is the batter. He dropped a fly to short left field which was cleverly caught on the run by the LF (George Wood) while both

runners took off sure that it was a safe hit. (OUT 1)

LF then fired the pellet in to the 3B (Art Whitney) who touched the bag to double off the runner from third, Tom York (OUT 2)

3B next tagged the runner from second, John Peters, who had traveled to third base (OUT 3)

John Morrill (BSN) is the batter. He struck out and did not run, but the C (Deacon White) dropped the ball, quickly picked it up and threw to the 3B

(Davy Force) who retired the runner from second, Pete Hotaling (OUT 1)

Meanwhile, the runner from third, Sam Wise, crossed home plate but the umpire ruled his score could not count. 3B threw to the 2B (Hardy

Richardson) who forced the runner from first, Ezra Sutton (OUT 2)

2B then threw to the 1B (Dan Brouthers) to retire the batter, John Morrill (OUT 3). The umpire's decision was challenged by the Bostons and for

a time their withdrawl from the game seemed imminent. The umpire's decision stood.
